Mr. Yan Jiantao has nearly 30 years of experience in the industry and is the author of several award-winning, bestselling books.

He currently serves as the Executive Director of Fidelity Energy in Hong Kong and is an independent director for a listed company. His previous roles include positions at IHS/Cambridge Energy Research Associates in the U.S., Chief China Oil and Gas Analyst at Goldman Sachs Investment Banking in the U.S., and Chief of Policy, Industry, and Regulatory Affairs at BP in the U.K., all of which are internationally renowned companies known for their research. He has also worked as a research assistant at the James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy, served as a reviewer for the International Energy Agency (IEA) annual World Energy Outlook report, and reviewed papers for the International Gas Union (IGU) Congress. He was named Best Energy Analyst for the Greater China region by Institutional Investor. Yan has also been involved in promoting the listing of Chinese crude oil, fuel oil, and natural gas futures in domestic and international markets.

Mr. Yan is the author of the award-winning energy series of books, including Illustrated Crude Oil Futures, Illustrated Natural Gas, and Illustrated Petroleum, which received the Excellent Publication Award. He also contributed to the China chapter of the Asian Development Bank Institute’s English book Achieving Energy Security in Asia: Diversification, Integration, and Policy Implications, and worked as the Chinese translator for Dr. Daniel Yergin’s international bestsellers The New Map: Energy, Climate, and the Clash of Nations and The Quest: Energy, Security, and the Remaking of the Modern World. Additionally, he translated 40 Classic Oil Trading Strategies, a book on financial derivatives.

Mr. Yan has held various academic and advisory positions, including Guest Professor of Industrial Economics at the University of International Business and Economics, Research Fellow at the International Energy Strategy Research Center at Renmin University of China, Advisory Board Member at the Sichuan Petroleum and Natural Gas Development Research Center at Southwest Petroleum University, and Expert at the China Oil and Gas Think Tank Alliance. He also serves as an editorial board member for industry journals such as Oil & Gas and New Energy and Natural Gas Technology & Economics.
